The annual National Down Syndrome Society Buddy NYC Walk took place on the Great Hill in Central Park, NYC. I discovered this organization by browsing volunteer opportunities online and I'm so glad I did! I assisted the organization staff with volunteer check in and t-shirt distribution before heading to the registration tent. I worked with a team of three other volunteers to register participants who didn't complete it prior to the event day. It was an inspiring non-stop hour and a half of registering families and friends to participate in the mile-long walk around the park.
By the end of the day, NDSS raised more than $125,000 to support their mission to benefit local programs, direct services and national advocacy initiatives for all people with Down Syndrome and I was proud to be a part of that team!

September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and there are many ways to give back to the number one disease killer of children. Pediatric cancer only receives 4% of the National Cancer Institute's annual budget to fund over 72 varieties of childhood cancers.
Pictured are ASICS sneakers that give back to childhood cancer. #GoGold for Childhood Cancer this month. |
